The family story is that our name was changed to RICH when an ancestor ran from the law and changed his name from DAWKINS to RICH. I am wondering if anyone recognizes this name...

Benjamin Franklin DAWKINS, born 5 Sept 1849. He was a blacksmith. I don't know where he originated from but ended up in Oklahoma where he married Sarah Ellon RICH and their children were born.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
