I have many instances where the parents have spelt the name as DAW and the children are spelling it as DAWE. In the case of Joseph DAW this is on his baptism record, baptised Oct 29, 1837 in Port de Grave, NL., no date of birth on the record. Joseph along with two brothers Jacob and Charles died Dec 1867 on a boat trip to Kelly's Island, Newfoundland for firewood. Jacob and Charles' bodies were found frozen but Joseph's body was never found. They died sometime around Christmas but I don't know the day.
