Levi Whalen was the son of Moses and Frances (Fanny) Whalen of Bell Island. He married Myrtle Dawe (daughter of Robert Dawe and Edith Bussey.
Myrtle and Levi had at least two children Shirley and William.
Myrtle died in 2006 and Levi in 1999.

WHALEN, Myrtle - It is with great sadness that the family of Myrtle Whalen announces her passing at the Health Sciences Centre early Friday, March 3, 2006, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Levi, her parents Robert and Edith Dawe, her brothers Clayton and William Dawe and her great-grandson Liam Whalen. Left with fond and loving memories daughter Shirley Miller (Frazer), son Bill Whalen (Cindy Hussey), special daughter-in-law Naomi Whalen and sister Gladys Hibbs, grandchildren Heather Miller, Cheryl Whitten (Kerry), Mark Whalen (Heather), Michelle Whalen (Jon Johannsson), Kim Pomeroy (Wayne); seven precious great-grandchildren Nicholas and Kera Whitten, Benjamin Whalen, Rebecca and Johann Johannsson and Leah and Luke Pomeroy. Brother-in-law Wilfred Whalen (Alice), special nephew Clarence Bishop, Paris Ontario and special niece Bernice Peiluk. Also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Saturday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., and Sunday 10-12:00 noon. Funeral Service in The United Church, Topsail on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. Internment in the United Church Cemetery, Topsail. It looks as if the Dawe's came from Port de Grave though the family isn't known. I would be guessing Henry Dawe whom married Emma Russell was born about 1858.
