Davy in South Africa

I am related to the Davy family in Natal.Eldest son of eight children, my uncle was Albert Edward Davy. Siblings were Mary, Ethel, Daisy, Charles (my father) and Edward (Ted).Their father, my grandfather, also Albert Edward born (apparently, although there is no record of his birth) in Uitenhage, Cape in 1876 (according to his death certificate)and married to "Lettie" Ferreira (Aletta Agatha). They were married at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Albany Street, East London, SA and lived on the West Bank.My grandfather died of heatstroke in the last world war and left his wife and eight children.Because there is no record of my grandfather's birth I am finding it difficult to get any further with the research. My grandfather's wife was Annie who later married Thomas Townsend as Albert Edward's stepfather was so named in the death certificate. The death certificate of Annie Townsend in Kimberley shows Plymouth as place of birth, which would have been in the late 1800's.Is any of this helpful?
