John Davidson and Janes (Janes is probably not Janes Morrison; there is another set of descendants of the Scottish Davidsons with these names that aren’t directly connected with my ancestors)
Nicholas Davisson and Joan Hodges (or Miller) don’t quite connect with John Davidson and Grissell Crawford; Nicholas went from Scotland to Lynn, England (which doesn’t seem to be a real place, unless it is either meant to be Kings Lynn, England, or London, England), and from Lynn, England to Charlestown, Massachusetts. It is hard to tell whether or not he marries Joan or Joanna in England or in Massachusetts, but either way, they end up in the colonies, while John Davidson and Grissell Crawford are born in Ayrshire, Scotland, and their son, John Davidson, along with his wife Jane or Janes are born in Ulster, Northern Ireland. It is possible that Nicholas and Joan came over to America without their son, but it seems strange that he and his family are put in Scotland and Ireland, while Nicholas left Scotland early on and did not go to Ireland.Nicholas did have a brother named John, and he isn’t accounted for, so he could be the father of the first John, but there is no proof.
The Davidsons seem to move to these places in chronological order;
Dingwall, Scotland
Lynn, England
Charlestown, Massachusetts
Ayrshire, Scotland
Ulster, Northern Ireland
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Henrico County, Virginia
Augusta and Orange Counties, Virginia
Albemarle County, Virginia
Russell County, Virginia
Moccasin Creek, Washington County, Virginia
Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia
Scott County, Virginia
Tazewell County, Virginia
Perry County, Kentucky
Clay County, Kentucky
If anyone can help with corrections or extra information about the Davidsons, I would appreciate it.
