On a recent trip to Frederick, Tillman Co., OK we obtained a copy of the marriage license of John B. Davis and Elvie. Elvie's surname was Bobo. She was 21 years old and John was 23 when they were m. on 27 Jan 1929. Elvie appears to have been the daughter of James Early Bobo and Nancy Odessa Ivey. James was b. 24 Aug 1859 and d. in Walters, Cotton Co., OK, 7 nov 1945. John Bunyan & Elvie (Bobo) Davis after the birth of John Bunyan Davis, Jr. in 1930 moved to O'Donnell, TX where John d. in 1975. At some date following his death Elvie moved to Chandler, TX where she d. 23 Dec 2001. Her suvivors included J. B. Davis of Chandler, TX, and two sisters of Dallas. Both John & Elvie are buried in O'Donnell Cemetery, south of O'Donnell, TX. John Bunyan Davis, b. 3 Apr 1905 was the son of Reed Rueben Davis and Emoline M. True. He was born in Douglass, Butler Co., KS. Emolyne d. shortly after the birth of John and he was reared by father's family in Clinton, OK. John later joined his father and siblings in Grandfield, OK. Reed R. Davis was the son of Joseph Ware Davis [1827-1869] b. in Champaign Co., OH and Nancy Minerva Janes [1830-1904] daughter of Henry Janes and Hannah Reed of VA. Reed R. Davis established the Davis Lumber Co in Grandfield, OK about 1908. Reed served as President of the Grandfield Town Company in 1913 & 1914. In a 1914 biography published in, A History of Oklahoma, notes the Davis and Janes families settled in southern part of VA although it is apparent that Joseph's father, John Davis [1800-1880] was b. in Monongalia Co., VA. John Davis indicated in the 1880 census of White Co., IN. his father, Abel Davis, was b. in Maryland and mother, Mary was b. in PA. Notify Administrator about this message?
