I'm looking for Mary Ann Hughes who married William Davis, probably in Lawrence Co. Alabama about 1840, or this family is known to have lived in Madison Co. AL, some in Morgan Co, AL and her grandmother lived in Itawamba Co. MS. She was the daughter of William Hughes (d. before 1844) and Mary Mahala Walker. I just don't know any more than this about her. I found a query in the Wm & Mary Quarterly that gives her name as Mary Elizabeth. I have the transcription of a court case that lists the children of William Hughes and in that document she is Mary Ann. Her older sister, Lucinda Jane married Jesse Rush Weatherly and moved to Huntsville, Walker Co. TX in the 1850s. Another sister, Nancy Caroline married Carter Smith. I don't know if they went west to Texas or stayed in Alabama.
Any help with this group will be greatly appreciated.
