NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — John Davis, 79, Newport News, VA,
died Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Riverside Regional
Convalescent Center.
Mr. Davis was a native of Johnson City, Washingto Co TN.
He was a veteran of WW II, Korea and Vietnam and retired
in 1975 from the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at
Ft. Meyer with 29 years of service.
He was a longtime resident of Luray, VA, where he enjoyed
his retirement at his beloved home on the banks of the
Shenandoah River.
He was predeceded in death by his parents, William T.
Davis and Lillie Buchanan Davis; four brothers; and four
sisters.
He is survived by his four sons, John, Roger, Larry and
Roy Davis; his four daughters, Lila Vaughn, Nancy
Shambaugh, Margaret Erickson and Laura Davis; two sisters,
Gertrude Williams and Patsy Ruth Pritchett; twenty-three
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a multitude of
treasured nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday,
March 21, 2008, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington,
VA, with full military honors.
Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
