William W. Davis, son of Sardis Davis and grandson of Sylvester Davis, was born in Freedom, N.Y., Sept. 24th, 1825. July 6th, 1851, he was married to JULIA A. MAYNARD, of Arcade, Wyoming Co.,NY. Their son, Lyman Davis, is now engaged with his father in farming, and the purchase, bailing and sale of hay and general merchandise trade. Sylvester Davis, a blacksmith, removed with is family from New Hampshire to Canandaigua, N.Y., about 1798. Sardis Davis came from there to Freedom, NY, in 1825, and settled on the Beebe farm. William W. Davis has served one year under sheriff.
