I am searching to discover how the Littlefield name is included in my family's history. My Grandmother was Virginia Littlefield Davis born 1896; her Father was Charles T. Davis, Jr. born in 1873 and her Mother was May Lillian Sheets born 1876. As far as I know my Grandmother only lived in New Jersey, as did her Mother. Her Father’s sister, Martha Jane Davis was born in 1862 in Kalamazoo Michigan. There were 11 other siblings in this Davis family. I would appreciate any help or guidance in learning why Grandmom carried the name Littlefield as her middle name. My parents and Grandparents have passed. Grandmom passed when I was 7 years old but her son, John who is my Great Uncle is still alive and says he has no clue where the Littlefield came from, nor the Harrison that was given to him as a middle name. My Great Grandmother, May Lillian Sheets, lived most of her life; she died at age 98 in Hancock's Bridge, Salem County, New Jersey. She married Charles T. Davis, Jr. in 1893 and they were divorced long before my Grandmother married in 1915. My 2nd (Maternal) Great Grandparents are Walter Sheets and Henrietta L. Garrison; they are buried in Roadstown, New Jersey. My 2nd (Paternal) Great Grandparents are Charles T. Davis, Sr and Phebe York or Roork and they are buried in Lower Alloways Twp, Canton, Salem, NJ and had 13 children. My 3rd Great Grandfathers are Nathan Davis and John S. York....My 3rd Great Grandmother married to John S. York is Hannah Stanley. My relatives lived in Cumberland and Salem County New Jersey. Other known areas for the family are Elsinborough, Greenwich, Hancock’s Bridge, and Lower Alloways Creek. Thank you for your help. Here's hoping, this is enough for you to find a link.
