Hi Joanne,I've been searching for information on a Hiram T. DAVIS who was reportedly born in MA in 1849.I know nothing about his parents. All I know is that by 1870 he had moved to very northern Maine. He married Mercy KIDDER in Princeton, ME, in 1870.
I know there were DAVIS families in MA during the 1800's, but not too many people seem to be researching them.
And, it's possible they were some of the families which moved back and forth between MA and ME.
My ..Hiram T. DAVIS..would have just turned 20 or 21 when he married in ME.I also have no idea whether he traveled to the ME/NB border as an 18-year-old alone, or whether his family moved up there, possibly settling in New Brunswick first.
Mercy KIDDER's father had been born in St. Stephen, NB, and was either raised there or in Princeton, ME.So, Calvin KIDDER would have known families in both areas.
