Subject names are found living in DAVIS residences in White Co., IN, per the 1850 Federal Census. William Janes, age 14, Eliza Janes, age 11, Elizabeth Janes, age 5 are listed with the family of John, age 29 & Hannah Davis, age 44. John's age should be 49, having been born in Hardy Co., VA in 1801. Hannah Davis, m. John, 28 Jun 1849 (their second marriage) Hannah was 1st m. to George Janes who died intestate in White Co., in 1847. John's 1st wife, Mary E. Newland, d. 29 Feb 1844, White Co. The Janes children are shown as Jones but that is equally incorrect as they are the children of Hannah & George. Also enumerated with John's family is Elizabeth Harrison, age, 37, b. OH.
Philip H.<arrison> Davis, John & Mary's son, age 24, and his wife Pheby,age 22 are with their dau., Mary E.Davis and James Harrison, age 9. Another son, Joseph W. Davis, age 22, with, wife Nancy (Janes) Davis, dau. Mary Jane and Elizabeth Harrison, age 6.
Alfred Harrison, age 55, no occupation,b. in ENG is found in the neighborhood living with John R. Jeffries (Jeffies as spelled on census).
Can anyone help identify the Harrisons who are apparently related to the Davises or does anyone have information concerning the Janes children? Any help will be most appreciated.
