Hi Laura,
An Aquilla Davis shows up in two TN censuses: 1830 Tipton Co., p 270 and 1850 Rutherford Co. In the 1850 census, there are two numbers associated with the family, perhaps the page number and the residence number (713-398). However, the Index to the 1850 TN census is wonderful because it shows the family members, etc. Here goes.
Aquilla (39 TN), Mary (31 TN), William 11, George 9, William 6, Mosley 4, Jno. 1.
Also in the 1830 Tipton Co., there is a Jacob P. Davis (p 271) and an Obadiah Davis (p 276). We are interested in the Jacob P. Davis (m. Elizabeth ?). We feel that his oldest son, Jesse, was born in Tipton. He had other sons, Gabriel and James Prior Davis, (and possibly two daughters) born in MO.
