I've just started researching my Davis line. My ggg-grandparents were Eli A. Davis (d. 1862) and Nancy Amanda Parks Johnson (1832 - 1853). They were married December 20th 1849 in DeKalb Co. GA.
Eli Davis died when my gg-grandfather, John Brown Davis, was 12 years old. According to
family stories John Brown was raised by the Johnson family. Here's the info on JB Davis:

m. Mary Elizabeth Kemp on Sept. 21, 1868, Randolph Co., AL
b. Jun 27, 1851
d. Aug 19, 1936
They are both buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Haleyville, Winston Co., AL.
They had at least two children:
Alley Fuller Davis
b. Feb 21, 1888
d. Apr 20, 1966
Herbert Fielder Davis
b. Oct 9, 1871
d. Feb 23, 1952
