Golden/Goulder Davidson was almost certainly a son of William Davidson and a Miss Hix/Hixe (there was a Goulder Hix/Hixe in Goochland Co., VA with the Davidsons in the 1740s).William Davidson was on the tithe list in Goochland in the 1740s and then on the tithe list in Buckingham Co., VA in 1764 (William's apparent brothers Edward Davidson and David Davidson were also on those two tithe lists).William moved to Pittsylvania Co., VA by the mid-late-1760s (the part that became Henry Co., VA in the 1770s and then later Patrick Co., VA around 1790-1791).Goulder had apparent brothers who were named William "Junior," David (who lived in Stokes Co., NC for a while), John and Richard Davidson.Goulder left VA and moved to the Grainger Co., TN area around 1804.
This Davidson family has been "traced back" to the David and/or William Davidson who both died in James City Co., VA in 1687 (the part of that county that became part of Charles City Co., VA in 1720).I have a "ton" of information on this Davidson family (which is a branch of my family), and I can e-mail you more, if you so desire.Comments/questions?
