Davidson-Newsom (Bedford Co): Was Grandma wrong?

This looks like a simple link, but a note written in the margin of the family history book disputes all evidence, so I want make sure grandma was wrong before I ignore the comment.

In Bedford County, Tenn., George Newton Davidson (1836-1917) married Nancy A. Newsom (1847-1877) on 10 Aug. 1866. After her death, he married Nancy J. Adams (1850-1915).

Circumstancial evidence says Nancy A. Newsom was the daughter of Green B. Newsom and Eliza J. McGrew. She fits into the census list. She's buried in the same cemetery with her supposed siblings.

However, my wife's grandma wrote about Nancy Newsom: "Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.E. Newsom of Wisener, Tenn. (Giles County)"

I can't find a J.E. that fits, and I can't find a Wisener TN in Giles County.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
