Hi Pauline,

Thanks for your help. I appreciate all that information. I had found Edward's SSDI listing and the 1880 census but the other info was new, so thanks! I now also know that Edward is buried with his parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. I actually went to the grave this past weekend. I am now trying to trace John David back to France as well as Edward's mother, Julia Cummings, back to Ireland.

I know John was born in France in 1840 and his parents' names were John (perhaps Jean) David and Theresa, and Julia Cummings was born August 20, 1838 in Ireland. I have both of their death certificates from Brooklyn (Julia died March 28, 1898 and John David died on June 10, 1915). Julia's did not list her parents' names. Any suggestions on how to trace these individuals in their European birth places? Thanks again!

Kevin
