William Arthur Davenport was my great-grandmother's second husband. They married in 1883 in Van Buren,Crawford County, Arkansas. Together they had two sons: William Marvin Davenport 1884-1965 and Charles Bolling Davenport 1887-1931.
W.A.B.Davenport served as a Confederate officer in the Hampton Legion Company E (known as Bozeman Guards). He held the rank of Captain and is listed as being present at Appomattox according to "The Appomattox Roster. R. A. Brock. The Southern Historical Society. 1887"
Captain Davenport died of consumption January 28, 1887 in Van Buren, five months before the birth of his second son, and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Van Buren, AR.
