Clipping announcing book Dated 11-5-1959
FAMILIES SEEK DATA ON EARLY HISTORY
The Davenport-Lamoreaux reunion was held in Lapeer Sunday. Many who have not seen each other for over 50 years attended. A book on the Davenports is being edited and published soon. "Cold Spring on the Hudson".
A celebration Aug. 29, 1959 was held and a plaque was unveiled honoring Thomas Davenport born 1682 died in 1759. Mr. Davenport was the first settler of Cold Springs-on-Hudson.
Much data of the Davenports and Lamoreaux, who moved west, is being compiled and sent to Dorothy Giles, for her book. Records are scarce, as schools were not established and people were struggling with the new country, neglecting records.
Anyone knowing of interesting data will please contact Mrs. D.A. Phipps, 417 E. Oregon in Lapeer. Davenports came from Pontiac, Rochester, Birmingham, bringing information to Phipps, Sunday.
This is just a news clipping announcing the publishing of the book in 1959, probably a Lapeer or Genesee Co. Newspaper.
