I do have info on joe and ella davenport. Joeseph clifton(1887-1918) was born in Rolling fork, ms. His father and mother were James David Davenport(1860-1920),and Margaret HelenWest(1866-?). After her death, he married Beulah Grice. Don't know if Joe had siblings or not.His grandparents were J.M.Davenport(1832-1895)and Susan Hall Davenport(1841-?).
Joe and Ella had 5 children, one who died in infancy. They were: J.C.,helen,lottie and beulah(my mother).
Joe and Ella are burried in Oak Grove Cemetary in Meridian. Ella(my grandmother lived with my family until her death in 1972.
Lottie and Helen( who was married to Howard Bishop) are still surviving, and we are in close contact with them and their families.
Ella Nancy(or Nancy Ella) was a Massey. Her parents were caroline and Frank Massey. Frank is believed to have died in the civil war. There were three brothers to Ella: William,Russell, and Albert. That is all we know about the Masseys.
I spoke with Helen Bishop and she said it was ok to give you her address so that you could send her any questions about Howard's family, even though she wasn't sure she knew very much.It will be easier to write than to talk to her as she is very deaf. Her address:
HELEN BISHOP
650 UNIVERSITY BLVD. APT.318
Mobile,ala.36609
She and Howard have 4 children, all of who live in or around Mobile.
Hope this info will help, and hope I have not repeated anything you already have.If you find any more on the davenports and masseys, please let me know. If you wish you can just E-mail me:[email protected] live in Meridian, ms. Would love to hear from you.
