I would venture a guess that your great-grandparents came from Nova Scotia, Canada - likely from Lunenburg County.

The Dauphinee/Dauphiney families in Nova Scotia are all descended from a common ancestor who was one of the "foreign protestants" who settled the town of Lunenburg in 1753. There were Corkum families there as well, having come from Germany (with the name "Gorkum", I believe) and speaking "deutsch" which has been corrupted to "Dutch".

There was a lot of movement of families from Nova Scotia to "the Boston States" (primarily MA).

There is a lot of information available by visiting the Lunenburg County GenWeb site at:
www.rootsweb.com/~canns/lunenburg/

Hope this helps!

P.S. Was your great-grandmother HARRIET rather than HARRITE?
