I am not a family member but I am interested in all DAUPHINEE families in/from Nova Scotia. My research has led me into following some of those who "married in". According to the marriage registration of Jean TRAVIS & Enna Elm DAUPHINEE her parents were Lewis & Minnie TRAVIS. They, in turn, according to their marriage registration were Lewis Whiting TRAVIS & Minnie M. OAKES and they married 4 June 1895 in Halifax. (There was a large age discrepancy between them.) I have found Lewis & Minnie TRAVIS in the 1901 census with Robert & Jane (sic) but after that they appear to disappear. The following item was found by another researcher: Saturday, August 14, 1920...The Evening Mail, Halifax, N.S. DAUPHINEE - TRAVIS Mrs. Wm. Travis, King street, Dartmouth announces the engagement of her daughter Jean, to Enna E. Dauphinee of Hubbards. Wedding to take place early in September. This is puzzling - did Lewis die and Minnie remarry? Did the paper just make a mistake and it should have been Mrs. Minnie Travis? I also have not found any evidence of Enna & Jean after their marriage - did they remain in Nova Scotia? Can you add any information? Elizabeth Notify Administrator about this message?
