Hi Monte, Have you found more on your Darling Dauphin? I do have a bit, but the spelling from the records was Daffin. Some time ago I had found quite bit concerning both Daffin and Dauphin in N.C. with the same given names but with Daffin or Dauphin as surnames depending on who was researching the family. I have always assumed Darling was tied into a Daffin family I am researching that starts with a John Daffin m. Sarah Pierce/Pearce in Halifax Co., N.C. and I believe once I saw it mentioned that there was a John DAUPHIN and Sarah Pearce. I don't know if there were actually two separate Daffin and Dauphin families or if researchers got them mixed up or maybe it was originally Dauphin and the spelling changed to Daffin along the way as they migrated through the south. I believe I have a copy of that article from the Andalusian Star you mention and can forward it to you if you want. All my Dauphin files got lost from an external drive that went bad! Maybe one day I can take the drive out and see if they can be restored. I have a website with most of the N.C. Daffins at http://www.daffin.org/JohnDaffinofNorthCarolina Darling is one that I have not fit in, so maybe there are 2 separate Dauphin/Daffin families?
