**DEATH**H.C.DAUGHERTY, 85, died last week at the home of his son, W.C.DAUGHERTY at Pontotoc, Miss., where he was on a visit. Deceased had suffered a stroke of paralysis and never recovered from its effects. Mr.DAUGHERTY was born in LA., and when the Civil war broke out, joined the 4th Louisianna Regiment and served until he was taken prisoner at Ft. Hudson. After the war, he moved to Hardeman County and married Rosa PUCKETT.To this union was born four children, two of whom survive; W.C.DAUGHERTY, of Pontotoc, Miss., and L.L.DAUGHERTY, of Ripley. Shortly after his marriage,he moved to Lauderdale County and resided at Golddust.He was a member of the County Court for six years. He was instrumental in establishing the Methodist Church at Golddust, and was Sunday School superintendent for 25 years.The funeral was held at Pontotoc with interment in that place.
