THE HUGUENOT SOCIETY OF ENGLAND AND IRELAND
Posted by: Carolyn (ID *****3954) Date: December 11, 2005 at 14:20:20

I recently checked with both the London and the Dublin office of The Huguenot Society of England and Ireland in an attempt to determine whether our Dodrill ancestors were French Huguenots who went to Ireland in the early 1600's.

The London office found nothing and suggested I contact the Dublin office.

The response from the Dublin office is below:

"I am afraid that I could find no Huguenot link to the name Dodrill. From what I could establish it is originally English, but certainly also cropped up in Ireland from at least the seventeenth century onwards. It can now be found in England, Ireland, the US and Australia."
