I have a number of Gen(dot)com data cd's that I decided to go through again the past few weeks. I've been able to access them with no problem, up until the past few days. The past few days, I have been able to scroll thru the surname index with no problem, but after I access say maybe 6 persons to find the info for them, FTM will lock up and "not respond". It will show an empty index screen instead of the info for the person. The only way out is to kill FTM in Task Manager. I'm using FTM 2005 (file v12) XP sp3., and have installed nothing else lately. The disk surfaces are clean. Is this a known problem, with a fix?
