I posted the following message to the DeSilva forum (I am of Spanish/Portuguese descent and am uncertain of which spelling the family used):

Does anyone have any information on a Spanish pirate named DeSilva, my gg (or ggg?) grandfather, who plied his "trade" in the Caribbean and Panama? Due to the
nature of his career choice, no one in my family has any specific data on him.

Possible alternate spellings:
De Silva, Da Silva
