My Joseph E. Da Silva Da Santo was b. 1870 in the Azores and came to the US around 1889 and settled in the Boston, Mass area. He married Maria Conceciao Soares. Little is known about those early days and I wish I knew more about the "old country" and exactly where all they lived there. All I know is Maria is from Pico and the rest is a mystery. I do have an outline and more recent family history. My family used the name interchangably "Da Silva "Da Santo" and then just "Silva" and then just "Santo". I don't know why, but I heard it was a common thing to change names and use former surnames or maiden names formerly used. Infortunately, I never knew my herigage until the older relatives were gone and all I have left are a few vital docs and bits and pieces. Please contact me at

Sincerely, Lisa
