DaSilva from Portugal to Maine,1900ish
Posted by: Diane Sylvia Morley Date: June 10, 1999 at 19:04:48

I have only just begun my search, and have this to offer. My father is Charles W. Sylvia, his father was Anthony Sylvia he lived in Presque Isle Maine, his father came over here from Portugal and that is when the name changed. I am told it was with a De, Da, or de or da, or just a D' or d' in front of Sylvia but cannot be sure. This was heard and not written info, it is all up to interpretation. please contact me if you know anything that might help me in my search. I can also say that My ggrandfather is said to have come with a fleet of fishing ships, from Portugal.
