Yes...there were many Dasilvas in British Guiana which is now Guyana. Many left after riots in the early part of the 20th century and later due to heavy migration of many educated Guyanese during political turmoil. They are now all over the Western Hemisphere with little record of their existence. There is a very good book by Sr. Mary Feriera (I think) on the Portuguese in Guyana. I do not know if you can get it in the US but probably through UK book outlets.Or try R.K. Singh in Trinidad. I hope that helps...HR
