REBECCA DASH--Jacob Jenkins Moorer (m. 1822--Orangeburg, S.C.)
One of my gr. gr. gr. grandmothers was Rebecca Dash, who married Jacob Jenkins Moorer on October 20, 1822, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was a son of David and Anna Catherine Bowman Moorer (married in 1789).I know much about the Moorers and related families of that part of South Carolina, but I know nothing of the Dash family other than my ancestress's name.In the 1790 census of S.C., there is one John Dash in Orangeburg and one Herman (Harmon?) Dash in the Camden District (although I have seen that name on deed records in the Orangeburg area).
Rebecca's marriage ties her in to such other families in my paternal grandmother's lineage in that part of S. C. as the Carns, Shinglers, Moorers (obviously), Bowmans, Dantzlers, Mellards (adoptive name of William Owins/Owens), Connors, Shulers, Ulmers, Barbers and others. If these names sound familiar to anyone, can someone tell me the origins of my particular Dashes.I have visited several postings about S.C. Dashes here, but there seem to be no connections stretching back to mine.
Sincerely,
Bill Fuller
