Ooops !
As can be seen from my earlier note, James would have been about 4 and not 14 when William Soper was conceived - so he definitely couldn't have been the father.
The father was therefore probably Richard Balsden Dart.
Just to confuse matters, the James Dart born in 1827 was the second son of John and Sarah named James. The first son was probably born 1819-1820 and died on October 19th 1820.
