DNA Project Update

I have recently published a major update of the Dorsey/Darsey/Darcy/Dawsey/Dossey/D'Arcy DNA Project. Because the project has grown so large,it is now posted as a series of web pages. To begin with the introduction to the project report go to www.contexo.info/DorseyDNA/Introduction&ExperimentalMethod.htm. To go directly to a results chart with a brief overview of the results, go to www.contexo.info/DorseyDNA/Results.htm. From either page you will find a number of options for reading more in depth discussions of each family group.

The Dorsey Project currently has results for 48 project members. The report includes results as of March 15, 2006. We are fortunate to have well documented members from several Dorsey/Darsey/Darcy/Dawsey/Dossey/D'Arcy lines that have been the subjects of much interest, discussion, and argument by genealogists both past and present—the line of the American Immigrant Edward Darcy/Dorsey, the line of Norman D’Areci who is said to have accompanied William the Conqueror to England in 1066, and the line of the Irish D’Arcys of Kiltullagh are all represented along with several other newly identified groups.

We are actively recruiting new members--particulalry additional descendants of Edward Darcy/Dorsey, proven descendants of Dorsey/Dossey lines from eastern Maryland and Dorsey/Darsey/Darcy and other variant surnames with known roots in Ireland. We also invite members of these surnames whose origins are unclear to compare their own DNA agains the five family lines that have been defined by the project so far.
