For some reason this line seems complicated to me and I can't seem to get the connections set in mty mind. I asked a sister -in-law to look up the reference in Statesboro for me but she has never gotten around to it. My husband works at the federal courthouse, sometimes traveling to Statesboro so I am going in the next couple of weeks to review this material. Everything online needs to be taken with a grain of salt as many take the word of others and incorrect info takes on a life of it's own.
My line descends from the brother of your Joel..Benjamin. I have the English you list as Jane as Elizabeth English with the preceding generation (Joel) married to a Jane but no last name. My Benjamin was married to a woman named Leodicy Darsey but the maiden name is unknown to me. I have never been able to find it. They had a daughter , Mary Jane Darsey who married Andrew Hampton. Their daughter married Mastin O'Neal and then they had a son Charles Culpepper O'Neal who married Eliza Ann Arline. Then came my great grandmother Della Eliza Oneal who married a Louis Thompson. My line is hard to follow because it is through females and the name Darsey does not survive here.
Does you father's work include anything on these folks?? Joseph must be our common ancestor. He was my 6th great grandfather.
I will check out the references you mentioned and see if I can find anything new.. Thanks for your help.. Candace Jeffers Smith
