JOHN P. GARRETSON
JOHN P. GARRETSON died Sept. 15, 1915 at the age of 71 years. “Uncle Johnny’ as he was called by his friends was born in McMainville, Tennessee, May 30, 1844. He enlisted in the Confederate army in 1861. In 1868, he married MISS ISABELLA DARROW of Cherokee County, Alabama. They moved to Ellis County, Texas in 1869 where they resided until 1892, then they moved to this place. Eight children were born to this union, six of whom are still living.

Mrs. Garretson was called to his reward after a long illness. He professed hope in Christ as his Savior, was a good neighbor, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

BRO. WILLIAMSON of the Methodist Church preached the funeral sermon and burial services were conducted by the Odd Fellows and Rebecca. The cortege of relatives and friends as the largest that ever attended a funeral here. The remains were laid to rest at the Addington cemetery.
