Not sure if they're related to my Darrows, descended from James and Sarah who settled circa 1810 maybe 6o miles north in Champaign County. His sons, Alandras, Hiram and Anson, were born 1815 - 1817 and are thus too young to be your James W. Darrow's parent. The James W. Darrow I have was born 7/12/1844.

Would guess your grandfather was son of first marriage of Mary ____ Taylor, who then married James W. Darrow. So then the similarity of the names would be coincidental.
