My understanding is that it derived from something gaelic like Darroch. Earlist Darrow records are of a British Army officer named John Darrow who ended up in Connecticut in the late 1600's. All I know of our Darrows is that they ended up in southwest Ohio in 1800;s, coming from NY or PA and are somehow distantly related to Clarence Darrow, whose family was in northeast Ohio.
