There is a source on this site which is repeated several times which lists the birthdate of Sophia Darrah, daughter of Samuel and Sarah as Feb 9, 1797. This conflicts with two other sources, one which gives the birthdate of their second child, David as Oct 1797 and a listing found in the town records of Litchfield, NH which on page 501 lists all of the children of Samuel and Sophia in order of birth as follows:
Sarah b. Oct 19, 1793
William b. Sept 19, 1795
David b. Oct 21, 1797
Sophia b. Feb 9, 1799
Calvin b. Feb 28, 1801
Mary b. Jan 2, 1807
Elijah b. Jul 9, 1809
I have personally seen this entry in the town records
located in the town hall of Litchfield. It appears, since the month and day of Sophia's birth are the same that there
has been an error in reading or copying the year.
I have been looking for a Samuel Darrah to fit the time line associated with this record. The only fit seems
to be the brother of my gggrandfather, David, son of Robert
and his second wife (first was Jean McKeen), Eunice Blood.
There are three other reasons to make this association.
One, this Samuel was born in Litchfield, two, the census shows a Samuel (1810) in Litchfield, and three, the births were posted in a Litchfield town record. Unless someone has additional information I will post this as an addition to my family tree on this and the LDS site.
If anyone has any information on what happened to Samuel's brother David who resided in Greenfield, NH from
1795 or before till at least 1800 when he is shown there in the census, I would appreciate hearing from you.
