I'm trying to determine who my great grandfather was. The story goes that his son George R. Darrah (b Dec. 4, 1893, d Aug. 4, 1929), my grandfather, was raised in either Barton City or Lincoln MI by the Barton family. His father's wife may have died at childbirth, and g-grandfather couldn't take care of the infant, hence the Barton's, don't know the relationship. We know that gg was in the lumber business and sent money to and visited George until his 13th year and then stopped (about 1906-07), never to be heard from again. It is conjectured that he may have died in a lumbering accident, but we don't really know. George then apparently had problems or vice versa with the Barton's, and he ran away at 15. George married Pauline Kent (from Bay City) and had 5 children before his death in Flint MI. Any info. would be helpful.
