Thanks for this info, Wendy. I will save it and check with the local genealogy library concerning it. Presently, I am involved in writing a book, trying to finish the second draft, so my mind is occupied with other than Darden genealogy right now. But, about actually going to the courthouses and looking at old records first hand, I did it all the time when I first began researching 20 years ago. Never made it to Harrison County, however.
Haven't attempted it in any county in a while, but do not know why public records still aren't open to the public, those that do not fall under the 75 year privacy rule, for sure. Obviously the records on the film and in the books were gathered from courthouse records. I am planning to drive to Harrison County as soon as I am ready to, and see what I can find out there on my own.
Anyway, thanks again for your help. Will definitely check out these references, and let you know if I find anything.
