Dear Patricia, Saw your entry in Genforum. My great grandfather was Tom(thomas) D'Arcy who left Ireland late 1847 probably partly due to the FAMINE (1846-50). So two facts are similar. Daniel left Ireland around the same time and was from Irelan. I think my g/g/f had at least one brother, Patrick but I suspect he had more and some sisters as was common in those days. I have traced the journey of Tom and if you can do some research such as SHIPPING records, Immigration records, located his other descendants who just may have an old letter or bible with records in the front, you may be lucky and find out his birthplace/townland. Were there any marriage certificates perhaps at a local church where he settled, ... There may be an old relative who may throw some light onto his past. Let me know. Common names seemed to get past on in 19th century e.g. Patrick, Edward, Margaret, Catherine, Jim, ... this may help. Write to older descendants.
