Many French Canadians descend from Guillaume Daoust who settled in Lachine, Québec. I am happy to announce that R.-Yves Gagné, one of Québec's leading genealogists, has launched a new research project to trace the ancestry of Guillaume Daoust. This project comes on the heals of his completed Longueval project which will be published in the Mémoires of the Société généalogique canadienne française in 2007. He has successfully traced another French Canadian family back to French royalty with the Longueval project. Now he is focusing on the Daoust family. He has already made some substantial progress on the maternal side of Jeanne Aubert. However, there is still much more work to do and the paternal side of Guillaume Daoust's ancestry. I encourage you to visit http://www.habitant.org/daoust to read more about this project. M. Gagné is again asking for financial assistance to complete this project. I can attest that doing medieval research in original records in France and elsewhere in Europe is very expensive and every contribution helps. Please consider donating to this significant project.
