Patsy I hope that you can help me on this. I just found out my gggg grandfather mentions a DAVID DANTZLER and a DARICE DANTZLER in his will. I haven't a clue who these two people were, or how or who they connected to in the family.

Capt. Manley Ford died on Mar 24,1843 in Spartanburg SC. His children and their spouses were:
Nancy Ford - Henry Wood, Jr.
Elizabeth Ford - Willis Staggs
William Z. Ford - Elizabeth Deavours (my line)
Merrick H. Ford - Elizabeth Jordan
Sarah A. Ford - John/Jonathan C. Holcombe
Mary "Polly" Ford - Robinson/Robertson Smith
Manly Washington Ford, Sr. - Martha Unknown
John J. Ford - Lovina Harrell (John may have been married twice)

Only Capt. William Z. Ford was deceased when Manley Ford died and his children are mentioned as the "heirs of Wm. Ford, dec'd".

Some other surnames associated with the Ford family are: Smith, Wood, Stewart,Shumate, Parks, Mayfield, Bright, Burns, Farmer, Pennington, Johnson.

Manley Ford married second to Dolly Chumner/Chumley Crow(e). They had no children. She survived him. It is believed that Dolly had no chidlren as she leaves a will and only a brother and some nieces were named.

The first known residence of my Fords was Amelia County, VA, then they moved to Spartanburg SC, then part of the family (my line) moved to Cherokee Co. GA, then to Benton/Calhoun Co. AL. After that they just spread out in Texas, MS, and other western states at the time.
