Thank you so much for the information, James. In the meantime, I had learned from a Dantzler descendant (who has been a friend of mine for 50 years!) about Mary Ellen's marriage to Wm. Barnett Dantzler, but did not know about Malinda's marriage. I did find this in the 1920 census:
1920 Whitfield Co., GA, census; P. 149
William Donaldson, 42, b. AL
Malinda E., wife, 41, b. TN
I wrote myself a note wondering if that might be Malinda Hammontree, but had no way of knowing. So now I know for sure and also know the date of marriage. Emma Malinda and Mary Ellen are my second cousins, once removed. I guess I should say, half cousins, since I am related to their mother, but not their father. Are you related to either of these families? Thanks again.
