Dancey, London, Website

My mother's name was Dancey and she came from Dublin. Her father was John Dancey and my great grandfather was Pockridge Dancey, born 1812. The tradition in the family is that they were a Huguenot family which left France in the 17th. century after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. A community of Hugeunots was established in Dublin in the late 17th. century and there is eg a burial ground near St. Stephens Green in Dublin. The anme is thought to come from a village near Le Mans. My Irish family, now so far as I know extinct, were of course protestant and attended Anglican Churches - I do not think that in their time there wasHugeunot Church in Dublin. My uncle Robert and grandfather worked as accountants in the Irish railways. I have no information before 1812 except the names of some of the family who settled in England in the 17th. century.
