Hi Mary:

There was a time when I thought that my great-grandfather Swain G. Dannelley was one of James and Susannah's son's. However, my Swain's father was William Dannelley of Moore County, North Carolina. I have a theory, although I have no way to prove it, that William and James are possibly either cousins or brothers, or maybe even uncle and nephew. I know that my ggfather stayed with Noah R. and his family in Alabama, but why I have no clue. this one has been puzzling most of us Dannelley researchers for some time now. Do you have anything that would tell us where the name Swain comes from? There seems to have been several with that name. Right now I'm following a line that includes Adam Crain Jones, a Margaret Swain, and a child named James Danley Jones or Danley Jones. Seems promising, but who knows. Only time will tell if we are able to get to the bottom of this puzzle. These people are from South Carolina in the Abbeville District. Any help?

If you should ever want more info on my Dannelley line, I'll be happy to share with you.

Sandy
