Many of my family were born in Hannover Germany, and began arriving in the USA in the 1850's. They settled in southern Illinois in a town called Mt. Olive. Because so few have the same last name as I do, I would think there is a link. I do have members of my line that have Dietrich and Heinrich as given names. I do know they left for the United STates from Bremen, but do not know how the connection was made to Illinois. My own father was born in Mt. Olive when it was a German community until he was about 6 years old.
If you are interested, I will provide the information I have and see if we have the same line. You can email me with the information you have, and I will get back to you. My home phone number is 801-785-5968.
