Honore and The Grand Recrue
Recently I started wondering just what brought Honore Danis to New France and what conditions were like in 1653.Even though I live in Canada, I must confess my knowledge of early Canadian history is limited.Below are some sites that I have found with a bit of info about what is on them. The most exciting info I found was that this is the 350th anniversary of the Grande Recrue, of which Honore Danis was part of.Until I started surfing the internet I had no idea how important these recruits to the history of Canada. Some of the sites have been translated so read a bit funny.I started this venture by using Google and search for phrases like New France History, Montreal History, Ville Marie, Grand Recrue 1653, etc.Google is good because of the translation feature.I would love to go to Montreal this year and take place in some of the celebrations that will be occuring, particularly on November 16th.Anyway, I hope some of you find this info interesting.I believe my line is Jean Danis and Anne Badel.I have one tiny link to confirm before I am sure and am just waiting for the microfilm of the Church records to arrive.Happy searching to you all, and I hope the links come through ok.
Regards
Jan Smith
