Dear Edmund.

I am just beginning my research into the Danis Family. I am a Danis from the Fall River, Ma area and having stumbled on your web site I thought I would start there. Unfortunately I did not write down all the info my father gave me before he died, but I will give you a brief history of our family as to what I know starting with myself.

I was born October 7, 1941 in Fall River, Ma.

My Father was Henry L. Danis, Sr. Born November 10, 1914 in Fall River, Ma. He was Married to Julliette Lavoie, Born August 8, 1917 in Fall River, Ma

My father had one sibling, Leo Danis, Born 1913 in Fall River, Ma. He was married to Marie Gendreau, born Fall River, Ma circa 1913 or 14. They had one son, Robert Henry Danis born December 1940.

My grandfather was Henry J. Danis, born December 4, 1890 in Rhode Island. He died December 19, 1950 in Fall River. He was married to Anna M. Couture. She died in August of 1970 in Taunton, Ma. I don't have much on her. He had brothers and sisters but the one I remember most is Fred Danis who was born in Fall River. He died sometime in the seventies or eighties.

His father, my great grandfather, was Joseph Danis. I don't have much on him or his wives. His first wife died and he remarried a lady from Portsmouth Rhode Island. Her daughter may still be alive and I'm trying to track her down. Joseph was also an alderman of Fall River probably around the turn of the century. I'm in the process of getting that information from the city clerk. He also worked for the mills in the area and travelled around the state for them.

For your information, there is a Danis street in Fall River's North End named after him and a street in Portsmouth RI named Henry Danis Road.

At this point things are fuzzy but I find it hard to believe that all the Danis' in that area are not somehow related.

Hope this helps and anything you or someone else can supply would be wonderful.
