When Hannah Colcord (1754-1837) married Joseph Bartlett (1751-1800) IN 1773 the Bartlett line acquired Colcord ancestry (on the paternal side of EBB) traceable back to about 1600.
The Colcord Family in this country seems to trace its history back to Edward Calcott (1616- ?) (otherwise spelled Colecord, Colcord, and Calcord) who at the age of 15, came from Hampshire County, England, in 1631 to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and moved to Kingston or Exeterer, or both. Edward's court record is shown in "POTPOURRI". His son Samuel Colcord was born in 1656 and died in 1736. He married Mary Ayer in 1680. He was in the Colonial Army in King Phillip's War in 1677.
Their son Samuel B. Colcord was born in 1710 and married Mehitabel Ladd in 1773.
Their daughter Hannah Colcord was born in Kingston, New Hampshire in 1754 and died in Salisbury, New Hampshire in 1837. She married *Joseph Bartlett*, was the mother of Samuel Colcord Bartlett (1780-1867), the great-grandfather of EBB as already mentioned.
